When I tell business contacts, prospects, or leads that my company is an Inbound Marketing Agency, they often have no idea what the term “inbound marketing” means. My response usually includes one of these three options:
- Explain the contrast between traditional, outbound marketing – a shotgun approach (think commercials, billboards, and direct mail) where you do what it takes to interrupt and broadcast your message to anyone who will listen, and inbound marketing – a targeted methodology focused on helping, educating, and selling to the folks who most need your solution.
- If they want more information, I may send them this article answering “what is inbound marketing.”
